Protection

Our friendly and safe spaces serve 445,455 children that have been traumatized by the disorder in Syria. We provide a number of programs that benefit students’ education and development, as well as their physical and mental health. Our aim is to uplift every student and give them the resources they need to be a successful contributor to civil society. With our help, Syrian children can continue their education and establish more secure, self-sufficient futures.

Meet Majeda

Majeda was once one of 2 million Syrian children not receiving any education. Like many children her age, Majeda dropped out of school to work and support her family. With the help and encouragement of her local education center, Majeda is back in class as one of her school’s hardest-working students. Now with a deep appreciation for her education, Majeda is studying hard to become a teacher. One day, Majeda will pass on the same kindness and devotion she experienced to her own students.

Zakaria’s Story

Zakaria was born deaf. When Zakaria was young, he would observe his peers talking and laughing and was deeply saddened by his inability to participate. Now, with the help of his hearing aid, Zakaria is learning how to speak verbally and will one day be able to communicate freely with his comrades.

Omar Story

Since the crisis in Syria began, over 2 million houses have been destroyed. Without the necessary resources, 70% of civilians are unable to rebuild their homes. Omar is one of those people. Omar’s situation is unique in that he is a single father to 3 children, each with health issues. Syrian Forum rebuilt a home for Omran and his children, giving them a foundation from which to build the rest of their lives. Through 2020, Syrian Forum has rehabilitated 4,661 houses. We hope to continue our good work moving forward.

Rehabilitating Housing

Millions of Syrians have been displaced from their homes and forced into lives of poverty. If they’re lucky, families live in thin tents made of tarps. Many are left to construct housing out of whatever is available. Families face harsh conditions in low-quality housing and no means for improvement. With your support, Syrian Forum can continue to turn makeshift camps into sustainable living situations.

Schools during COVID-19

Syrian children are faced with obstacles they must overcome just in order to receive an education. Whether they be economic hardships, physical ailments, or illness, each challenge has great weight in holding these children back. But these kids aren’t giving up. Their dedication, combined with the efforts by Ishan for Relief and Development, has brought forth amazing changes within displaced communities.

Rebuilding Futures

50% of schools in Syria are damaged. That means countless children have been left without access to proper education. Syrian Forum aims to provide those children with an education and a love for learning that will help them lead proud successful futures.

Water Stations

Thousands of people victimized by the conflict in Syria face thirst and dehydration every day. Clean, available, drinking water is a limited resource across Syria. Syrian Forum is fighting thirst by providing access to freshwater. We rehabilitate and install water stations to ensure Syrians never have to look too far for a glass of water. Access to clean water is part of our WASH program and supports the health and hygiene of all Syrians.

Surviving Winter in Syria

Many people underestimate a Syrian winter. Just as the desert gets unbearably hot in the summer, winter brings biting cold. The harsh drop in temperatures is only part of the reason winter is insufferable. Flooding destroys homes and fosters bacteria and disease. Soggy floors make building fires or heaters difficult. Syrians are left battling bitter winter conditions frozen to their core.

Bazaar

With the right opportunities, anything is possible. The Bazaar marketplace is home to over 39 locally owned and operated shops. It is through these businesses that the Syrian economy will flourish. Rebuilding Syrian lives happens one life, one project, at a time. Help us continue inspiring growth by supporting our programs today.

Womens Empowerment

The devastation in Syria has left many women at great risk of gender-based violence. Widows are now responsible for supporting entire families and are forced into compromising situations. They don’t have a choice. Syrian Forum provides critical support services to women and families in need. We teach economic independence and other skills that will allow women to lead safer, successful lives.

Orphans Ramadan

The sad reality for orphans is that they have no one to support them. We want to change that. To ensure that displaced Syrian orphans get the opportunities they deserve, we will be partnering with the Directorate of Religious Affairs to implement an orphan sponsorship program. This initiative will empower thousands of orphans to achieve success in ways they may have never imagined for themselves.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Projects

Despite the incredible progress we have made, thousands of displaced Syrians do not have access to clean drinking water. There is still work to be done. Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) is of our largest sectors and top priorities. Access to clean water is critical to communal health and wellbeing, among other things. Men Empowerment Center

An individual’s success promotes success across their entire community. As part of our Economic Empowerment program, our men’s centers provide jobs that support families and strengthen local economies. Your support will help us continue to empower self-sufficient societies across Syria.
